The ESOL classroom is always a hive of activity as it is such a rapidly growing department. The focus is on developing speaking and listening skills to enable students from such diverse cultural backgrounds to understand what is going on around them and give them the tools to achieve basic communication so they feel comfortable in their new school environment.

Drama activities such as role play and simulation constitute a major part of the ESOL lesson as well as games and songs which target specific language.

Our students undertake Cambridge Young Learners Exams which continually prove our tremendous success in English. These exams are a reliable consistent means of a child's progress in the four language skills. Tests are designed to make learning fun and children are encouraged by working towards certificates at three levels: Starters, Movers and Flyers.

In addition we also enter stronger pupils for KET (Level A2 in Common European Framework).
