In Foundation 2 we learned about Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated. This year, the Chinese New Year started on Monday 23rd January. We watched a video clip on the internet of a dragon dance.

We found out that this year - 2012 - is the year of the Dragon. We made our own dragons from coloured card and we even managed to fold two strips of card over and over to make a concertina body for our dragons. We also learned that there are 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac and that when we were born, it was a different animal for that year; so some of the present F2 children were born in the Year of the Dog (2006) and some were born in the Year of the Pig (2007).
