On January 30 LAUDE, The Lady Elizabeth Junior School celebrated the Día de la Paz, otherwise known as the Day of Peace, organised and set up by the Spanish Department. All pupils took part in peace-related activities learning the importance of no violence. Throughout the day students participated in several activities. They used their hands to symbolise doves, wrote poems, handcrafted paper doves and they also completed pieces of work about the Nobel Peace Prizes and the Recipe of Peace, also known as “La Receta de la Paz”.
At the end of the day, the students attended an assembly led by the Head Boy and Head Girl and were asked to join hands and form circles around the hall. The peace song for this year was “El patio de mi cole”. At the completion of the celebrations a dove was released to symbolise freedom and peace.
The pupils were encouraged to learn a well-known version of “El patio de mi casa”, a traditional Spanish song!
